The offering of flowers to the Divine Mother has both spiritual and philosophical merit. Philosophically, it represents the offering of our selves to the Divine in complete trust. Spiritually, flowers bear the Akasa Tattva (space element) and offering of flowers to the Divine is said to purify that aspect within us. Offering of flowers, especially fragrant ones, is said to bring spiritual merit and the blessings of the Divinity.
