Sri Maha Vishnu is one of the most revered deities in Sanatana Dharma, known as the preserver and sustainer of the universe. He is often depicted with multiple arms, each holding a symbolic weapon or object, each representing a unique aspect of his divine power and spiritual significance.
The four arms of Lord Maha Vishnu represent the four directions, symbolizing his omnipresence and all-encompassing nature. In one hand, he holds the conch shell or "shankha," representing the sound of creation and the call to dharma. In another hand, he holds the discus or "chakra," symbolizing his power to destroy ignorance and bring enlightenment. The mace or "gada" in his third hand represents his strength and ability to conquer obstacles and enemies, while the lotus or "padma" in his fourth hand represents purity and spiritual detachment.
The weapons held by Lord Maha Vishnu, such as bow and arrow, signify his ability to protect and defend his devotees against evil and negativity. His mount, the divine eagle known as Garuda, represents his supremacy and ability to transcend limitations.
Lord Maha Vishnu's multiple arms and weapons are not only physical representations of his power but also have spiritual significance. They remind us that in order to conquer the challenges of life and attain spiritual liberation, we must rely on his divine grace and follow the path of dharma.
There are several stories that illustrate Lord Maha Vishnu's strength and his commitment to upholding dharma. One such story is the tale of Lord Rama, an avatar of Lord Maha Vishnu, and his battle against the demon king Ravana.
