Sravana Masam is one of the most sacred months in the Hindu calendar, deeply associated with divine vibrations, auspicious rituals, and the graceful blessings of the Divine Mother and Lord Vishnu. Falling typically between July and August, this lunar month is marked by intense spiritual activity, vrata observances, and special festivals dedicated to prosperity, protection, and purification.

 

Significance of the Month

The word Shravana refers to the Shravana Nakshatra, which is associated with Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the universe. It is believed that during this month, cosmic energies are especially receptive, and every act of devotion multiplies in effect.
 

This month is particularly powerful for:

• Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi worship, especially on Fridays

• Gauri Devi and Parvati Devi worship on Tuesdays

• Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva worship throughout the month

• Spiritual discipline including fasting, japa, and meditation
   

Sravana Masam is also a time to purify the mind, offer prayers, and seek divine intervention in removing the ashta kashtas—the eight-fold miseries of human life such as restlessness, debt, illness, misfortune, and emotional suffering.
